In the late 1940's Eva Slater collaborated with another student to create a movie for a class project. In these stills Eva's taste for minimalism and simplicity can clearly be seen.
Eva Slater's drawing of the San Jacinto mountains has been included in Leo Mallette's beautiful book on Rancho Mirage, a resort area near Palm Springs. It is loaded with old photos including ones of lots of celebrities and is a fascinating book about part of California's history.
As can be seen from these photos, Eva Slater was not only an excellent artist but also a beautiful woman. From her days as a teenager in Germany (middle three photos) to her life in Southern California, she maintained her beauty all her life.
I have been studying and creating art all my life and am married to figurative artist Harry Carmean - we have been making art together for forty years and so am sharing some of what we have done in this and related blogs.
